Hee Haw

Doc observed, as he turned off NPR on the car radio on the way to breakfast this morning, that “A Prairie Home Companion” is basically “Hee Haw” for northerners. Ha!

Our trivia team tonight expanded beyond the limit I’m comfortable with. I think we had ten people, when we were thinking we’d have about six. Next time: smaller table; any excess acquaintances should probably form their own team. It’s so incredibly hard to hear in the Trinity. So loud. Sitting outside might work for a while, until it gets hot again.

However, all that being said, we came in third place tonight. That garnered us a $15 gift certificate, which seems a bit hard to split up, but I suppose we can just apply it to the table’s bill next time we’re there.

  1. About trivia tonight – I completely agree. I came home with a headache. Too much noise and too many people crammed into a small space isn’t any fun. I feel guilty about the extra baggage coming. I didn’t want them there either. Chris and I are going to sit out the next couple of times.

  2. It just doesn’t seem to work very well when we have an open policy on the number of people on the team. I like to be inclusive but it got a little carried away last night. Seems like six is about the maximum number where everyone can hear each other and actively participate. I think we might skip next week too.

I don’t have anything personally against the extra baggage, as I don’t know them, but they did invite themselves back for next week. Might be interesting when they find themselves the only ones there!

  3. Oh, I wasn’t talking about Guy! He is very nice indeed. He’s usually on Team Swizzlestixxx, though, so his brains are usually put to use by our competition.

  4. Oh, ok, I didn’t know where he came from. I’m pretty confused with the whole “who IS team Swizzzlllesstixxxxxx” anyway.

  5. I think that SwyzzleStyx is usually Rich, Guy, Frank (the angry leprechaun), Mark, Leslie, and maybe a random additional person now and again.

Only Rich and Guy showed up for ShizzleSticks last night and we invited them to join us, thinking we’d only have four or five on our own team that night.

I’m always cool teaming up with Rich when the number of total people makes it practical to do so….
