I’ve shocked myself by writing some poetry today. Other than “The Face Known to Me,” I haven’t written anything substantial in decades.
Re-reading letters from the early 90s reminded me that Young Katy wasn’t always a total idiot. Also… what does one do with old love letters? Hmm...
Re-reading handwritten letters from friends makes me really nostalgic for the fine (and fun) art of letter writing. I think I might try to resurrect this art form for myself.
I got myself a tattoo! Now I will forever have my own artwork on my body, and my nerdy love for “The Waste Land” becomes public and permanent!
I said I was resurrecting my blog with the goal of leaving Facebook and Instagram... but I have changed my mind. Not about the blog - I am having a great time with it and it's here to stay. But I'm also going to stay on social media, at least for now.
April is the cruellest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land, mixing memory and desire, stirring dull roots with spring rain. (April also breeds pollen, and lots of it.)

Today, I reworked an uncomfortably melodramatic poem that I originally wrote in college in 1992. I surgically de-cheesed it of its embarrassing obviousness, and I absolutely love it now.
I don't seem to have had much to say this past week. My 2.5 readers are surely relieved that I have not written any novella-length missives about fascism or food, and I thought I'd dig back into the archives for what happened on March 21 in years past.
Trump and his supporters want us to despair, give up, and let them do whatever they want without consequence, because it's too hard to fight. And it IS hard to fight. But I have found help. Here's how I'm staying both informed and sane.
