At the end of my 3 weeks in Sequim, I did something that feels selfish yet necessary: I took 2 full days completely for myself in Seattle.

A roundup of things happening in Sequim, including a cat birthday, some beautiful photos of nature, dinners I made, and some evidence of my dad’s decline.

It turns out, I am pretty good at being a dick to myself. I try really hard to be kind to other people, but apparently it’s open season on my own self. Read on if you want to hear my self-flagellation over a hike I am planning. I know it sounds ridiculous — because it is.

Some really pretty nature photography, plus a complaint about hiking with a teenager.

While I was in Washington State visiting my mom and dad, I spent a lot of time hunting. For fruit, that is! Cherries and berries and bees, oh my.

We took a mini-vacation to Austin, and although the weather changed some of our plans, I still got to see Debbie and we had the best time!

My memories of that time are a little hazy, but I was definitely at the Stonewall 25 celebration in New York City in June 1994, so it is likely that I am somewhere in this photo!

When a teen half-asses planning for the family, you end up at places like Magnolia Market. Thank goodness we knew to throw in a trip to the Dr Pepper Museum.

We took a day trip vacation to Fort Worth and beyond. We have several mini trips planned this summer because this might be the very last time that we get to do things like this with Jamie.

I very much needed this week's mini-vacation to Beavers Bend State Park. Great friends, meals eaten outdoors, some hiking, some sunshine, and a lot of sitting by the fire doing not much of anything was good for my soul.
