Poem, tentatively titled “Apology”

I’ve shocked myself by writing some poetry today. I sat in my car in the parking lot at work this morning and this just came out of me.

This will be the second one I have written this year — the first was “The Face Known to Me” and I know you’re not supposed to be totally in love with your own work, but I am totally in love with that poem. Other than that one, I haven’t written anything substantial (let alone good) in DECADES.

I feel like I need an editor… that feedback always got me out of my head and made my work better.
