I’ve been meaning to write for the past week or so, but kept getting sidetracked by other things. The most exciting news is that Arushi and I had our first interview about the book. It’s supposed to appear in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram on Wednesday Feb. 12, in conjunction with Valentine’s Day. I originally thought that the story was going to focus on Valentine’s Day recipes and tips for cooking with your partner, and that we would be just maybe one quote in the overall story along with our recipes, but the reporter talked with us for a long time, and asked for both the cover of our book and a picture of the two of us, so I think that maybe it’s going to focus more on us and our book… who knows. We shall see on Wednesday.

Because all that happened so fast, I had to do a mad scramble to get a website up for the book. It’s in pretty good shape so far. I’m glad I bought the domain name now (www.quickiesforcouples.com), because it’ll be so simple to put it in marketing materials and to tell reporters about it.

Doc and I got a laser printer today, which I’ve been wanting for a while. You can get them relatively inexpensively these days (at least, compared to a few years ago), and if I’m going to be doing more writing, then I need some way to get quick printouts.

We’re also thinking about ditching our digital cable service, because AT&T sucks, has the absolute worst customer service, and keeps raising prices (see what having a monopoly will do to you?). The alternative we’re considering is satellite TV. It won’t be any cheaper, but we would be able to get all channels upstairs as well as downstairs, plus have a Tivo type thing built in. The downside is that it’s just as expensive, you have to have a dish installed, and apparently in any sort of inclement weather, including wind, the reception goes out.

I threw my back out last week in a major way. I didn’t do anything to it; I was just sitting at my computer at work as usual, and I felt it start to tighten over the course of half an hour, and by the end of the day I could barely move. I spent the entire next day flat on my back, which actually wasn’t any more comfortable than standing or sitting.
