the ultimatum

Despite the best efforts of the French and much of the rest of the free world, “President” Bush has issued an ultimatum. By my count, Hussein now has about 24 hours left to vamoose his country. Or else!

Whatever happens, it isn’t going to be pretty. I’m not particularly worried about my own personal safety, but I do fret about the thousands of innocent people who are going to be killed (civilians and soldiers alike, no matter what country they’re from), and then the worldwide political and economic aftermath. It’s not going to be pretty.

Believe me, it’s not like I disagree that that man ought not to be in any sort of power. He’s evil and heartless. I just don’t know that we have the right or the obligation to go murder the dude and install our own system of government. And this after we put the guy in power and gave him these weapons of mass destruction that we’re now so worried about him using. Gosh, I think we did the same thing with Osama bin Laden. Funny how this seems to be working out, eh? Perhaps it’s time to rethink the way we do some things, eh?

I can’t say that I know much about politics, and it’s easy for me to see both sides of any issue. I just try to keep up as much as I need to so I don’t look stupid. I’ll lose any debate you try to start with me, so don’t bother.
