why does life cost so much money?

we have to get a new air conditioner. we bought a new outside unit last year, but apparently the inside bits are now shot. we could get a used car for the same price. it’s times like this when i wish we lived in some place that didn’t require artificial cooling for eight months out of the year. we have a second air unit for downstairs that is barely hanging on, so we’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

houses are money pits!!! we also need to have an electrician out to figure out why our breaker box is flaky, and why the kitchen breaker won’t stay on, and why the porch light burns out every two weeks, and why the lights dim every time we use the printer!

and (as long as i’m bitching) we’re probably going to cancel out of our mortgage refinancing, taking a pretty big loss as far as fees, because the rates shot way up between the time that we started the process and the time when we were allowed to “lock in” an interest rate.

aaaaaand… the floors squeak (we have fixed some of them ourselves); we desperately need a tree service to come fix up our trees; the back porch’s paint job is faded and the porch was so shoddily made in the first place; the grout in the master shower was all cracked, some of the tiles too, so i am just finishing up refurbishing that; oh, and i had to buy a new computer monitor because the old one started making horrible crackly electrical sounds and wouldn’t come on.

no no no. don’t get me wrong. i love the house. it’s just that it’s… er… temperamental. it wasn’t well put-together in the first place, and it’s just its time for things to start going wrong.

but enough about me 🙂
