It Pays to Enrich Your Word Power!

I was reminded today that when I was a kid, I LOVED reading my Grandma’s issues of Reader’s Digest when we visited her in the summers. I absolutely devoured them. Especially the short anecdote sections: “Life in These United States,” “It Pays to Enrich Your Word Power,” “Toward More Picturesque Speech,” and plenty of others I can’t remember.

And I especially loved how the index was on the cover.

I also cackled my way through many Erma Bombeck books, Dave Barry’s newspaper columns and books made me well and truly roll on the floor laughing, and I faithfully read “Hints from Heloise” as if I was a grown ass adult with kids and a mortgage.

In short: I was a 70 year old lady in the body of a 10 year old.
