why in hell do i have so many dreams about going to the bathroom??? can someone please shed some light on this?? am i the only one??!
i don’t have any particular ISSUES about going to the bathroom, other than i prefer a clean seat and clean floor, i cover not hover whenever possible, and i prefer not to do #2 in public unless it’s a real emergency, and only then if i can be assured that i’m completely anonymous. i don’t think that those caveats are anything unusual.
so why are public toilets featured prominently in my dreams? and i’m not talking about mundane dreams where i go in, pee, wash up, and come out without incident. i’m talking about stalls without doors, stalls with walls only 3 feet high, huge bowls and seats, oddly colored potties, all around odd looking potties, strange people in the bathroom, non-flushability, a fear of actually using the dream toilet for various and sundry reasons, toilets that change shape or size as i’m using them, etc.

You’re not the only one. I regularly have dreams about needing to go to the bathroom, finding a toilet, and then not being able to go. I worry what would happen if I actually managed to pee in my dreams. Generally I wake up and find that I really do need to go.
I can’t say that I usually pay attention to the particular toilet in each dream, but there’s one from a few months ago that I remember well. The bathroom was basically a store in the mall, with these huge toilets that looked more like bathtubs lined up on either side of the store. No stalls! In the middle of trying to use one, George Balanchine came over and told me he wanted to be in the next dance he choreographed. Search me…
