The No Kings protest today in Dallas had an outstanding turnout. Thousands and thousands of people were downtown at Pacific Plaza.
Everyone was extremely kind to each other — complimenting each other on their protest signs, t-shirts, fashion choices, etc. People walked around handing out water, snacks, American flags, flyers for their organizations, making sure no one was overheated or feeling sick.
I saw no counterprotestors, no police presence at all. It was peaceful and organized and, as I mentioned, everyone was KIND to each other.
This is ALWAYS how it is at these protests. It’s absurd how MAGA is trying to portray them as “America hating violence filled events.” It’s a sad tactic and it isn’t working.
We were all angry, but we were angry TOGETHER, not at each other.
Part way through the rally, the sky broke open and it poured down rain for probably close to an hour during the second half of the rally and part of the march as well. I was soaked to the bone and eventually began shivering uncontrollably. I didn’t march because I twisted my ankle pretty badly at work yesterday and didn’t want to walk for a mile on it. I am old and don’t recover as easily as I used to.
After we got home, I took a nice long hot shower and began to feel better. And then I went up to a bar in Richardson to listen to the prettiest girl in the world (and her band, Myld Stallyns) sing to me for an hour. The skies were blue, the beer was cold, and the sun was warm.
