I’m going to Nine Inch Nails!

We got tickets!! I am pretty danged excited that we are going to see Nine Inch Nails next spring!!

Now, what does a 50-something year old wear to this show to look cool, but not like I’m trying too hard? (What am I, 18 years old and planning my outfit in advance?!)

Jamie is a fan and wanted a ticket too, which I feel is rock solid evidence of successful parenting.

I told my boss I was going, and he said that friends of his who saw their fall 2025 show said it was one of the best shows they had ever seen. So I have high hopes for a great experience.

The first time I saw NIN was at Deep Ellum Live in January 1991, a small club tour. I had mono and was utterly exhausted but over my dead body was I going to miss this show. The memories from that long ago are a little hazy, but I am pretty sure I drove down to Dallas with Kathryn and Peter and some other college friends and we just bought tickets at the door, because apparently you could do that back in those days. My old journals tell me that when we went to concerts, we would usually just hop in someone’s car, drive down to Dallas from Sherman, and hope we could score tickets.

NIN played Lollapalooza in the summer of 1991 — and I was at Lollapalooza, also probably with Peter and Kathryn — but for some reason I don’t think NIN played the Dallas show.

The next time I saw them was in fall 1994 at Fair Park Coliseum with Marilyn Manson; then at the same venue in spring 1995 with the Jim Rose Circus. Then in fall 1995 at Starplex with David Bowie (YES HOLY SHIT I SAW NIN AND BOWIE TOGETHER!!)

It’s possible there may be other times I have seen them that I am just forgetting about (see comment above re: hazy memories because I am OLD now). It is a little weird to think that it might be as long as 30 years since I have seen them live.
