by the way, which one’s pink?

wow. just watched the live 8 concert. pink floyd performed with both david gilmour and roger waters for the first time in something like 23 years. it was pretty incredible.

poor roger waters, though, looked like he was on some serious happy drugs, with a big ol’ cheesy grin plastered on his face… until, that is, he sang the 2nd verse of wish you were here, all by himself… ouch. was david gilmour supposed to sing with him and hung him out to dry? dunno. anyway, that happy smile disappeared real quick. they may have played more than this, but this is all MTV showed:

  1. breathe
  2. money
  3. wish you were here
  4. comfortably numb

  1. During the Pink Floyd war, I have always sided with Roger Waters. I know he is an asshole, but he writes such beautiful music, like “Amused to Death”. It was very exciting and emotional to see them together again and chummy. I think Roger sang the 2nd verse of WYWH because he usually playes that song on his tours.

I have downloaded the set and watch it many times–it is so good. Sure, David was off key on one chorus of CN, but is was so good.

I can’t help but think they will do something again, the magic of Pink Floyd depends upon all their collaborations.

Too bad MTV screwed up the coverage, but I was all on AOL when Floyd performed. Thank god for their feed.
