sliding backwards into the dark ages

the elections are over. it seems like the world is over. the wacko right wing conservatives own the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch. i feel so depressed. one of my colleages was in tears yesterday. in the next four years, and probably beyond, if you are not a white christian male, much of your life will recede into constitutionally mandated medieval darkness. and what an appropriate phrase, “medieval darkness” — i think that the new crusades are upon us. we’re violently imposing “freedom” throughout the world, wielding the sword of “democracy”, all led by a man who is convinced (and has 51% of the population of the US convinced) that he was specifically chosen by god for this mission.

i fear that soon there will be no real separation of church and state. they’re trying to polarize us by putting everything, every issue, into black and white categories. people are losing rights. the world thinks we’re complete lunatics (lunatics with nuclear weapons) — and we are. if that’s not reason enough to be scared, i don’t know what is.
