Thanks, Gary!

Wow… I got a personal note from Gary Baseman (two, actually). How cool is that?!?! I requested to be on his mailing list, and he apparently checks that account himself, and visited my website (which, conveniently, is in my e-mail signature), saw the June 3 entry (below), and commented that Camille, Tim, and Mark are personal friends of his. AND he sent me an image of one of his paintings!

Listen to me, I sound like a groupie or something. I’m sure he’s just a regular guy, the same way that I’m a regular person. I, too, handle the mailing list and answer my own “fan mail,” such as it is, for my book. But it is kind of neat to have made a personal contact with someone of his level of achievement, and someone whose art I actually connect with, unlike much of what I consider “highbrow” snooty pretentious way-over-my-head-and-it-can-just-stay-there-for-all-i-care art.
