more about the brown boots

I think that I mentioned previously about really wanting a pair of knee-high brown boots, like all the cool girls in my elementary school wore. My friend Tawny had a pair; she’s the one on the far left on the bottom row. The girl on the far right is also wearing some. I think that she was one of the most popular girls. I am the shortest girl in the back row (that is probably the last time that ever happened). The girl standing next to me was mean and didn’t like me — looks like I put the pushpin hole conveniently (and repeatedly) through her head when I tacked it to my corkboard. Apparently I went to Douglas Smith Elementary School, not Alief, as is evidenced by this photograph. Just goes to show you how memory fills in the missing bits of information, sometimes without even telling you it’s making stuff up. Maybe Alief was the name of my school district or my neighborhood.
