a katie for katy?

My media relations website for SMU is a finalist in two different categories for the Katie Awards this year! No, that’s not an award that I made up and named after myself; they are the annual awards from the Press Club of Dallas for journalism all across the state of Texas. They announced three finalists for each category, and these are my two categories (which were the only ones I entered, by the way):

Which means that I might actually get to go to the fancy-shmancy sparkly-dress black-tie awards ceremony in November, if the office will spring for it. If I win, I get a gold statue of a naked lady (“Katie”). You oughta see these statues… I think they’ve toned them down in recent years, but back in the ’90s Katie was extraordinarily well endowed, so much so that people in the office have felt the need to put little Barbie coats and things on the Katies we have around the office to avoid embarrassment.
